Scotish Wildlife

Caithness Rare Breeds has been established to preserve not only the livestock but also wildlife native to the Highlands & Islands of Scotland.

As our project is evolving the next part is to establish an onsite dedicated wildlife rescue/rehabilitation centre. This is an ambitious project and will take considerable funding to establish. This is something we are working on now. If you feel you can assist us with this project please contact us.

The aim of the centre will be to provide an essential resource for those finding injured wild animals in the Caithness and Sutherland area.

If you do discover any injured or orphaned wildlife, please take the following steps:

  1. Find a box and carefully place it inside. Try to cover your hands if possible so as not to transfer your human scent onto it.
  2. Place the box somewhere dark, warm and quiet.
  3. Please do NOT attempt to give any food or drink.
  4. Until we are established please phone your nearest veterinary surgery.
